Latvia is a former soviet country that has many beautiful European-like cities and rich culture. Riga, Jurmala, Kemeri, Livonia and many other places are perfect destinations for those who want a feel of old Europe and natural beauty.
Riga now has little sings of the Soviet period nowadays. The city has a lot of old medieval buildings that and it’s Old Town is a Unesco World Heritage Site. The new modern buildings perfectly fit the Riga’s landscape. It is a very clean city with a lot of café’s and restaurants.
It is important to visit Kemeri – a beautiful national park that has become a home to a lot of wild animals including foxes, deer, wolves and many more. Also there are lots and lots of beautiful rare plants. This place is famous for a lot of healing facilities and for the beautiful Kemeri Hotel.
Also visit take a trip to Gauja National Park in the bank of the Gauja River. And it is usually known as Livonian Switzerland. The park includes Lielstraupe, Turaida Castle and other great places to visit.
You can travel around through Latvia using Latvian Railway, or buses. Also it’s always convenient to use to rent a car as some of the European rental companies provide their services in Latvia. If you’re travelling from Sweden or Germany try using naval passenger services as Latvia has great sea ports.
